PURPOSE:To obtain high-purity butene-1 in high yield, by catalytically reacting a 4C hydrocarbon mixture containing a 4C fraction under specific conditions in the presence of specific styrenesulfonic acid type cation exchange resin catalyst of long life, polymerizing isobutylene, removing the resultant low-polymeric isobutylene, and distilling the reaction product. CONSTITUTION:A 4C hydrocarbon mixture containing 10-50wt% butene-1 and 1-15wt% isobutylene is catalytically reacted in a reactor packed with particles of a styrenesulfpnic acid type cation exchange resin catalyst having a surface area of 0.2-120m<2>/g, a porosity of 0.03-1.5ml/ml and an exchange capacity >=1.0meg/g at 40-90 deg.C and an LHSV of 2-25 1/hr to give a reaction mixture containing 0.01-0.3wt% isobutylene and 80wt% or more remaining butene-1. The resultant reaction mixture is then distilled and separated into a heavy portion and a light portion. The light portion is then distilled precisely to give high-purity butene-1. Only the catalytic polymerization reaction is caused in the catalytic reaction to suppress the isomerization of the butene-1. |
