PURPOSE:To prevent generation of noises and enable to conduct an emulsifying operation for a long period of time by a method wherein an ultrasonic horn is enclosed in a closed housing, two liquids to be treated which are pumped from respective tanks for the liquids are mixed together, and the mixed liquids are supplied to a tip part of the horn. CONSTITUTION:The ultrasonic horn 10 is enclosed in the housing composed of the first member 13 and the second member 14, wherein the first member 13 covers the horn 10 over the area ranging from a node flange 11 to a magnetostrictive vibrator 12 and the second member 14 covers the horn 10 over the area ranging from the flange 11 to the tip of the horn 10, with a spaced formed between the member 14 and the tip. The liquid to be treated contained in the tank 17 is fed into a pipe 21 by a pump 19a, while the liquid to be treated contained in the tank 13 is fed into the pipe 21 by a pump 19b through the interior of the member 13 and is further fed into the interior of the member 14 under pressure. In the member 14, the liquids are emulsified by the cavitation effect of ultrasonic waves at the tip part of the horn 10, and the resultant emulsion is discharged through an outlet pipe 22. |
