PURPOSE:To effectively reuse powdery ion exchange resin to be used in an atomic power plant in particular by a method in which a dispersant is added to the slurry of powdery ion exchange resin to which solid particles are adhered and then a supersonic wave is applied to the powdery ion exchange resin to separate the solid particles. CONSTITUTION:Powdery ion exchange resin (referred to as powdery resin) used in the filtration treatment of condensed water in an atomic power plant in particular, in which pressure loss is increased due to the adherence of the solid particles (clad) composed primarily of alpha-hematite, is subjected to back washng to remove it from a filter element. Then, a clad dispersant composed primarily of a chelating agent (e.g., EDTA) is added to the slurry of the powder resin and then the cladding substance is removed by means of supersonic vibration. Then, the powder resin so treated, having greatly reduced radioactivity, is washed with pure water and then reused in the filtration element for the said filtration treatment. Thus, the amount of radioactive wastes consisting of the powder resin can be reduced. |
