Coating compsn. for rolled steel pdts. consists of an aq. emulsion of a high mol. wt. acrylic polymer, this emulsion contg. based on the acrylic polymer 0.05-1.00 wt.% nonionic surfactant, 0.05-1.00 wt.% thickening agent and 0.05-1.00 wt.% sec. or tert. amine, or an amino alcohol. Spec. the surfactant is an alkylaryl ether. The amino cpd. is diethylamine, diethylaminomethanol, triethylamine or dimethylaminoethanol.
