PURPOSE:To make the capacity of a lighting light source small, by discriminating if the describing direction of character information is lateral or longitudinal and the location of description, and controlling three moving mirrors based on the result of discrimination. CONSTITUTION:When a mail P being carried reaches a read-in section 11, a discriminating section 16 discriminates the describing direction and the describing position respectively. For example, when the mail P is a mail written in lateral lines, the section 16 supplies the discrimination signal to a selection circuit 32 and the discriminating signal of describing signal of the zip code to a drive section 23 of a moving mirror 22 of a read-in section 17. Thus, the mirror 22 turns for a specified angle. On the other hand, when the mail is a mail written in longitudinal lines, the section 16 supplies the discriminating signal to drive sections, 27, 29 of moving mirrors 26, 28. Thus, the mirror 26 turns by a specified angle to set the sight of read-in, and the mirror 28 turns and follows mails being carried. As a result, the range of lighting for the mail P toward the carrying direction (a) can be narrowed, allowing to achieve small sized capacity of the lighting light source. |
