Several small lamps are housed in a transparent or translucent straight inner tube of e.g. glass. Each lamp comprises a coiled filament sealed in a bulb and supplied via external flexible wires. The internal dia. of the inner tube is slightly greater than the external dia. of the lamps which are easily inserted and maintained in line. One wire of the final lamp is connected to a return conductor which extends along the entire length of the inner tube. The whole assembly is placed in an elongated transparent or translucent tubular bulb of e.g. glass with an opening for heat dissipation by convection at one end, and an ordinary lamp base with electrical connections at the other end. |
