<p>The oven contains several, super-imposed conveyor bands, spaced one above another. The prod. is conveyed first by the top band and then by the next, lower band in the opposite direction and so on. Each end of each conveyor passage is closed by a flexible, top hung, curtain type door. At each end of the bank of conveyor passages, the passages branch from identical, vertical shafts which serve as prod. entry and exit air-locks. Each shaft contains a vertically displaceable elevator to transfer prod. between conveyor passages and is equipped with a top exhaust vent for vapour. The oven is for baking loaves of bread and similar prods. Vapour required to moisten the surfaces of loaves in the first, top, baking passage is drawn from subsequent baking passages in which vapour is being driven off as the loaves are baked. This eliminates the need to inject steam into the top passage, except at startup, and so saves energy and reduces mfg. expenses.</p> |
