The verification of the operation of an automatic traffic controller is provided by use of a television camera to monitor the traffic flow and a second camera to monitor the outputs of automatic controller. The two video signals can then be mixed for simultaneous display and recording on a video recorder. The first camera is mounted over the section of roadway where the automatic controller is operative, and its output is connected to the mixer. The second camera views the display of the automatic controller, and supplies themixer. The visual display screen has the automatic controller display superposed on the view of the roadway. If review is required the video tape can be replayed, in slow motion or by single frames if required.
