<p>A large and heavy container is located on a wagon so it can be driven along a corridor and aligned under a hole in the base of the pit. The top edge of the container should be as near as possible to the roof of the corridor, so wedges are located between the top surface of the wagon and the base of the container to rearaise the latter. On the top edge of the containers, or on the wagon, is a metal bellows forming aseal between the container and the hole;and helical coil springs located on the outside of the bellows are used to maintain the bellows in its position of rest. The container has a wt. exceeding 100 tonnes, and a vertical length of ca. 5 metres. The invention provides an effective seal between the container and the pit, even if an earthquake were to occur. 15pp.</p> |
