PURPOSE:To make the removal of inclusions sure and decrease the rate of non- conforming products by stirring the unsolidified part in an ingot in the electromagnetically stirring position near the max. penetration depth of the jets of the molten steel teemed into the mold. CONSTITUTION:At the time of casting an ingot 3 by teeming molten steel in a mold 2 through a nozzle 1 in continuous casting of steel, the unsolidified part (molten steel) of the ingot 3 is stirred with an electromagnetic stirrer 6 near the position of the max. penetration depth 5 of the depth of the jets 4 of the nozzle 1, whereby the inclusions in the unsolidified part are floated and the defects owing to the inclusions are eliminated. The max. penetration depth of the jets of the nozzle is determined by the equation, and the electromagnetic stirring is accomplished near the same. |
