Heterocyclic compounds of formula (I) and acid addition salts thereof inhibit arachidonic acid oxygenation and are useful in medicine, for example as anti-inflammatory agents. The compounds of formula (I) may be prepared by any method analogous to those known in the art, for example by the method of G.F. Duffin and J.D. Kendall in J. Chem. Soc. (1954), 408-415. When used in medicine, the compounds of formula (I) may be administered as the compound alone or as a pharmaceutical formulation together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
