The blanket of an offset printing machine is cleaned to remove incompatible parts, in that a material is passed through the machine either in web or sheet form, said material having at least one surface which can adhere to the incompatible parts on the blanket and can remove them, the said surface not adhering or sticking to the feed mechanism of the machine or adjacent sheets in the case of stacking in sheet form before or after passing through the machine.
