PURPOSE:To make the device small and to lower the cost, by identifying if an input image signal is intermediate tone information, by using two sets of line memories each having one bit capacity. CONSTITUTION:An image signal obtained by scanning an input original image is inputted to a shift register 101, threshold value processor 1, and a dither matrix converter 2. The output of the shift register 101 is transferred to shift registers 102, 103...132 sequentially for the transfer processing with a prescribed length. A binary signal being the output of the processor 1 is stored in an RAM3 and the run-length information of the RAM3 is processed at an operation controller 5. At the dither matrix converter 2, dither matrix information corresponding to an input digital signal is compared, the output is stored in an RAM4 and processed at an operation controller 6. The output of the operation controllers 5 and 6 is transferred externally via a comparator 7 and an output buffer 8. |
