PURPOSE:To obtain the information of distance up to a target on the sea, by providing an image pickup means, three tracking gate generating means for the horizon, the target and the waterline respectively plus an altitude measuring means. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup means 2 picks up the area near a target 1 on the sea; a horizon tracking gate generating means 4 extracts the position information of the horizon of a picture signal obtained by the means 2; and a target tracking gate generating means 5 tracks the target 1 on the horizon. In addition, a waterline tracking gate generating means 6 extracts the position information on the horizon of the target 1, and an altitude measuring means measures the altitude up to the horizon. Then the information of distance up to the target 1 is obtained from the altitude information to the target 1, the position information of the horizon and the position information of the waterline respectively. |
