<p>The method and device are for optical monitoring which is accurate and representative of visual inspection. The method consists in employing a beam forming a spot less than one millimetre in size on the surface to be examined, continuously and linearly scanning a region of the surface with this beam and measuring its specular reflectance in this region within a solid angle of vertex angle of less than 1 DEG and measuring the components of the diffuse reflectance. The device comprises, chiefly, in the direction of travel of the light, a laser source (1), a reference cell (5), a rotating mirror (7), a convergent lens (8), a cell for measuring specular reflectance (10) and a cell for measuring diffuse reflectance (11) and the surface to be monitored (9) is placed downstream of the lens (8). The invention applies to the monitoring of any surface of metal goods and especially of aluminium-based products intended for decoration or for producing reflectors, and in all cases where the greater or lesser homogeneity of the optical reflection properties constitutes a criterion of product quality. <IMAGE></p> |
