Ignition timing control system with retardation responding to a shift transmission for an internal combustion engine

In the case of an ignition timing control system for a motor vehicle internal combustion engine a first sensor is used to detect the engine speed, a second sensor to detect engine knocking and a third sensor for detecting changing up of the transmission. The control system functions in response to the signals from the first, second and third sensors to retard the ignition advance angle and thereby reduce knocking due to change in the engine speed brought about when shifting the transmission upwards.
