The pre-fabricated mounting frame is partic. intended for the sliding roof of a motor car. Its underside is finished such that it forms the inner roof lining of the car. Its perimeter preferably corresponds with that of the inside of the car roof and may be provided with downwardly extending outward corner flaps connectable to the window posts of the vehicle. This finish may consist of a layer of hard plastic foam with inner vinyl or cloth lining which projects outside the perimeter of the frame and has integral corner flaps. The frame may be at least partly in plastic and may have a metal fixing flange embedded in the plastic.
