In a proposed electrophotographic printing plate material and a process for producing printing plates using said material, the material comprises a backing whose surface has water-holding or oily-ink-repellent properties and electrical conductivity, and an electrophotographic photosensitive layer containing an organic photoconducting substance on the backing. The material is characterised in that the organic photoconducting substance is a triphenylmethane polymer of the general formula (1) <IMAGE> where R is an alkyl group, X is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, Y is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, Z is an alkylene group or a p-phenylenealkylene group, Q is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, a methoxy group, a disubstituted amino group, a nitro group, a cyano group or a halogen atom, and n is an integer from 1 to 400, and the electrophotographic photosensitive layer can be removed by an acidic aqueous liquid.
