The soft cigarette package conventionally consists of a box (paper blank), an inner sheathing made of tin foil and an outer cellophane wrapper. In order to reduce the amount of material used for such packages whilst retaining the outer appearance, the present cigarette package consists of the box (12) with a strip-shaped tin foil blank (10) applied only at the top edge as the end-face closure. Furthermore, this package also has an outer sheathing (13) made of a moisture-tight and aroma-tight material, in particular polypropylene.
