<p>Core for moulding a pneumatic tyre is in the form of an extensible bag, open towards the centre of the tyre. This bag (4) is internally supported by bridge-like strips (5) at regular intervals around the circumference, each strip (5) is composed of several rigid components (5a,5b,5c) connected at articulations (6,7) and the two ends of the bridge are fixed to sliders (12) capable of axial movement. When the two slider (12) are pulled apart the articulations (6,7) open so that the bridges become flatter and shallower. Stops at the joints (6,7) are so adjusted that, when the two sliders are brought together, the external contour of the strips (5) agrees with the desired tyre internal contour and the stops bear against one another. An additional axial locking device (9) supports and fixes the strips (5) in the beading zone. Used as an internal core for the prodn. of tyres by casting, injection-moulding and centrifuging. The mould can be reused many times and a high deg. of uniformity in the prodn. of the tyres is achieved. The rigid bridges supporting the mould ensure that it remains in the correct shape even where centrifuging is not used. The appts. is inexpensive.</p> |
