PURPOSE:To quickly start a fuel cell without adversely affecting it while preventing the cell deterioration by applying the resistors connected in parallel with the fuel cell after confirming that the voltage of all cells has risen to a fixed value or higher. CONSTITUTION:To start the power generation of a fuel cell 1, first the necessary quantity of fuel is fed to the fuel cell 1 from a fuel feed path 9, and after the feed fuel quantity reaches a fixed value, the feed of air from an air feed path 8 is started. The voltage of each cell rises as the air feed to the fuel cell 1 is started. When the air flow detected by an air flow detector 10 reaches a preset value or higher and the voltage of all cells detected by a cell voltage detector 11 reaches the lower limit value or higher, a resistor switch 3a is closed by a signal from a control device 12 to apply a resistor 2a. Accordingly, the cell deterioration can be prevented, and the fuel cell can be quickly started without being adversely affected. |
