A coupling-on device is integrated in the adaptor. Through a gap (75) existing between the ends of the two fibres (39, 51), the optical signals arriving in one fibre (39) are transmitted onwards in the other fibre (51) not only in the core mode but also partly in the clamping mode. An extractor (52) mounted on the fibre is used to extract the light beams from the fibre cladding and direct them via a reflector device (53) onto a photodetector (55), so that a coupled-out electric signal (S) is available at the adaptor. The width of the gap (75), and thus the latitude of the coupled-out signal, can be varied by using interlayers of different thicknesses between the adaptor halves. <IMAGE> |
