摘要 PURPOSE:To enable a simple measurement of the cutting depth by detecting cutting marks when a gauge plate with a staircase-shaped surface fixed on a work base is cut in the direction perpendicular to the ridgeline of the staircase thereof. CONSTITUTION:Before work fixed on a work base is cut or ground with a rotary cutter a gauge plate which has a staircase-shaped surface with a flat back is mounted on the work base and worked with the rotary cutter in the direction perpendicular to the ridgeline of the staircase thereof. Grinding marks developed are detected to measure the machining thickness. For example, when a gauge plate 6 which has a surface 8 with a 8-stepped stair-case 180 and 190... 250mum high with the back 7 is mounted on the work base 5 and cut with a rotary cutter 14, the cutting marks observed only exceed 220mum. Here, the machining thickness is determined to be 215+ or -5mum. Thus, the machining thickness can be measured simply.
