PURPOSE:To increase the strentgh and improve the rapid charge characteristic of a pasted cadmium plate by preparing the paste by kneading a hydrophilic thermoplastic resin with an organic solvent in which soluble compound is dissolved. CONSTITUTION:After an active material powder such as cadmium oxide powder is homogeneously mixed with a hydrophilic thermoplastic resin powder, the mixture is added and kneaded with a solvent prepared by dissolving a soluble compound in an organic solvent so as to make a paste. After that, the paste is applied to both surfaces of a porous supporting body such as a punching metal, and the body coated with the paste is dried, thus a pasted cadmium plate is manufactured. Here, a liquid having a boiling point above the softening point of the former hydrophilic thermoplastic resin powder (for example, powder of a random copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid), such as ethylene glycol, is used as the former organic solvent, in which polyvinyl alcohol is dissolved. |
