PURPOSE:To enable an optimum fog correction toward main and subscanning directions, by increasing a correction coefficient toward the main scanning than that toward the subscanning, in a device processing an output picture signal of a picture reader. CONSTITUTION:In a profile emphasis circuit 5, a differential coefficient M toward a main scanning and a differential coefficient N toward a subscanning are operated independently at multipliers 115, 113. Since the differential coefficient M is set greater than the N, the resolution of a reproduced picture can be coincident toward the main and subscanning, allowing to make optimum fog correction to the respective directions. |
