PURPOSE:To prevent the stuffing of fine dust into nozzle by a cleaning mechanism by cleaning the frontal side of the head while pushing out ink from the nozzle during the cleaning period. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning means 17 made of a rubber material, etc., is closely adhered to the frontal side of a nozzle 23 during the period when recording is stopped and is therefore capable of serving as a cover to prevent the clogging of the nozzle due to the drying of ink. The cleaning means used is of a rotary type having a notched portion, for example. When starting a recording, a pump 12 is turned while the cleaning means 17 is closely adhered to the nozzle. Under a condition that a valve 14 is usually opened, ink is circulated between the head and an ink tank, during which period bubbles are removed. Afterwards, the cleaning means is turned and the frontal side of the head is cleaned. |
