<p>The casing elements for an electrically activated liquid crystal visual display panel, are made from a polymeric moulding material, specifically polymethylmethacrylate, polyethylene terephthalate or polycarbonate, and carry on part of their internal faces conductive coatings for selective activation of the enclosed crystals. The moulded elements are used instead of conventional glass plates, to reduce or eliminate ancillary machining or assembly involving separate spacers. Applicable to systems using either helical molecular crystals or phase variable 'cholesteric' crystals, linked by transparent conductive paths of suitably etched deposits of Sn or In oxide.</p> |
