PURPOSE:To improve discharge stability, shelf stability, etc., by incorporating a polyalkylene glycol, an alkanolamine and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone in combination into a recording liquid for use in an ink jet recording system. CONSTITUTION:A polyalkylene glycol such as polyethylene glycol or polypropylene glycol, 1-40% (based on the total weight of recording liquid) alkanol amine such as triethanolamine and 3-90% (based on the total weight of recording liqud) N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone or 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone, are mixed together. The resulting mixed liquid is used as an essential component for the liquid medium of the recording liquid. A recording agent such as a dye or a pigment is blended with the above mixed liquid to obtain the desired recording liquid. The dye exhibits excellent solubility in said liquid medium. Thus, solids do not deposit during the storage of the recording liquid. |
