An internal combustion engine including an elongated piston assembly (52) having working piston faces at the opposite ends of a longitudinal axis, a cylinder assembly (11) comprising a pair of spaced coaxial cylinders in which the piston assembly reciprocates along its axis, a crank shaft (27) mounted in the cylinder assembly to extend perpendicular to the axis thereof in the path of the piston assembly and including a crank pin (50) parallel to the crank shaft and a connecting rod (44) pivotally connected to the crank pin of the piston assembly so that rotation of the crank shaft is accompanied by reciprocation of the piston assembly in the cylinder assembly. |
