PURPOSE:To lower the cost of a connector plug by molding a plastic by the use of ceramic dies having a hole for insertion of an optical fiber or core pin in the central part for the outside circumference of a plug. CONSTITUTION:The dies consist of a male die 7, a lower die 8, and inserts 9, and the 4mm. portion at the leading end of the plug to be inserted into a receptacle is engraved in the inserts 9, and the other parts are engraved in the die 7 and the die 8. A cylinder regulating the outside circumference of the plug is provided to an insert body 12. The body 12 is made of HMD steel, and an insert liner 13 is made of ruby. A 151mu hole is formed at the center of the circular cylindrical body thereof. A fiber strand removed of protective coating is inserted into this hole, and is set in the die 8, thence the die 7 is closed and after these are heated to 150 deg.C, transfer molding is carried out by using a silica-contg. epoxy resin. Thereby, the cost of the connector plug is lowered. |
