PURPOSE:To improve fuel consumption by preparing independently operating plural number of internal combustion engines, together with its main and auxiliary transmission gears and changing cylinder volume in accordance with the necessary torque for an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:Engines 1, 2 of 2-cylinder type of the equal volume and operating independently of each other, and main and auxiliary transmission gears 80, 79 are prepared. And the auxiliary transmission gear 79 of two speeds is located above the front axle X, and is so arranged to transmit the output of the engines 1, 2 to the second main drive shaft 82. Thus, it can be arranged that, when the torque requirement is small, only engine 1 shall be operated, and when the torque requirement is large both output torques from engines 1, 2 are added; and if both large torque and good fuel consumption are required, both engines 1, 2 are operated and the link 111 of the auxiliary transmission gear 79 is, shifted to left direction in response, so that the gear ratio of the main transmission gear 80 may be reduced. |
