PURPOSE:To enhance the sensitivity to methane gas and to decrease the sensitivity to alcohol by adding a small amount of PtO2 to a main component comprising In2O3 and SnO3. CONSTITUTION:The gas detecting element comprises the composition ratio of weight 69.9-10wt% In2O3, 25-70wt% SnO2, and 0.1-20wt% PtO2. The reason why such a composition ratio is determined is that the resistance value of the gas detecting element becomes very small if the amount of In2O3 is too much, and the sensitivity to alcohol increases if the amount of SnO2 is too much. If the amount of PtO2 is too much, the sensitivity to alcohol increases. If the amount PtO2 is too small, the sensitivity to various gas decreases. |
