PURPOSE:To prevent degradation in cleaning performance with simple constitution despite cleaning in high humidity by providing a heat source near a fur brush and drying the fur brush. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning brush 1 contacts with a wind regulating plate 5 of an electrostatic charging material constituted of ''Teflon '', and a grounded metallic plate 4 which stabilizes electrostatic charging. A heat source 8 such as ribbon heater and an electrometer 11 measuring the electrostatic charging potential of the brush 1 are provided near the plate 5. With this constitution, the brush 1 charges to the polarity reversed from that of the residual toner by the triboelectrification with the plate 5, and is dried by the heat source 8. When humidity increases, the charging potential of the brush lowers and the residual toner increases and therefore the brush potential is measured with the electrometer 11, and the heat source 8 is controlled by a heat source circuit 13 in such a way that said potential attains optimum charging potential. Thereby, the degradation in cleaning performance is prevented in high humidity as well. |
