PURPOSE:To prevent the lowered quality of picture owing to the tailing of ink particles by providing a means for applying an external force to ink particles injected from a nozzle controlled according to printing information in the given direction. CONSTITUTION:An air blower 32 is provided between an acceleration electrode 29 (provided immediately before a nozzle 27) for accelerating ink particles P injected from the nozzle 27 and a platen 31 to apply external force to the ink particles. The air flow A is so arranged to apply an external force field in the direction of the platen 31 rotates. A tailing (sattelite) usually occurs at the rear end of the ink particles P injected from the nozzle 27. But as the air flow applies a vertical downward force to an ink jet, the sattelite is caused to fly ahead of the tip of the ink particle P. This allows the ink particles to form a dot on the platen (paper) overlapping at the tip and the rear end (sattelite) thereof. |
