As new compounds, there are provided 8-exo-hydroxymethyl-endotricyclo [5.2.1.0<2,6>] decane derivatives represented by the formula (I): <IMAGE> wherein R represents a saturated or unsaturated alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, an acyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or a glycidyl group, and the group of ROH2C- is connected to the 8-position of a norbornane ring on the exo-side. The compounds possess pleasant odours and are useful in perfume compositions and other cosmetic preparations. |
