The invention relates to an ultrasonic distance meter, in particular for vehicles, in a multiplex circuit having a resettable digital counter. The digital counter receives a number of pulses from an oscillator and forms a counter output signal for indicating the stored count of the number of pulses. A number of logic gates are connected to the digital counter and are controlled by it. The logic gates are connected to a number of ultrasonic transducers which are successively excited by the logic gates in dependence on the count stored in the digital counter.
