The invention relates to a measurement system with arrangement for conducting away heat for measuring instruments, in particular for precision measuring instruments, with the object of increasing the measuring accuracy. The objective consists above all in conducting away, without large changes to the measurement system, the heat radiation which is emitted from the light source and is absorbed by the material measure to parts of the measuring instrument which do not influence the measuring accuracy. The measuring system is arranged on a sleeve of a measuring device and the material measure is arranged on a receptacle on the measuring device, both being movable in relation to one another. One or more elements with good heat conducting properties are arranged on the receptacle and on the material measure and are connected to the basic element. One of the heat-conducting elements is arranged on the side of the material measure facing the light source and has one or more light penetration openings. The heat-conducting elements are advantageously films or wire meshes made of aluminium or copper. <IMAGE>
