The simplified cabling for a multiplicity of terminating units, such as, for example, lamps, exhibits an integrated input switch unit, a central processor which accepts signals relating to the switch states and, after processing, sends them to local processors and to a control indicating unit, a number of local processor blocks, one of which contains combined the processor, drivers for the terminating units and a failure detector, a cabling module which connects the drivers and the terminating units to one another and an integrated control indicating unit which indicates the failures of system parts more accurately than is possible with conventional control lamps. In the system, a redundant dual cabling is used between the blocks and the failure of a terminating unit is determined by measuring a voltage across the driver.
