A description is given of a photolens of small size and of modified Gauss type, which is well corrected by a high-grade image quality. From front to rear, the lens has a first lens of positive refractive power with a meniscus shape which is convex forwards, a second lens of similar shape, a third lens of negative refractive power with a meniscus shape which is convex forwards, a fourth lens of negative refractive power with a meniscus shape which is convex rearwards, and a fifth lens of positive refractive power whose rear surface has a high refractive power.
