High contrast photographic system - has image splitter with anamorphic objective and filter to separately record highlight and shadow detail

Two congruent images are produced side by side on the film either one over the other or in the same frame. If two half frames are exposed then the light splitter is preceded by an anamorphic objective which compresses the image in the horizontal plane. No additional film is required for the system. One image is filtered and provides detail for the brighter parts of the scene while the other image provides detail for the darker parts of the scene. The enlarger/printer has a similar optic arrangement and combines the two congruent images into a high contrast image.
