Three-layer housing for domestic appliance - with gap between inner and outer layer filled by soft plastics

Housings for small domestic appliances for the personal use are made of three layers. One of the layers is provided with bosses which enter through the perforatons of the layer forming the outer surface. These two layers are manufactured separately and assembled, leaving a small clearance into which a soft plastic material is injected. The outer layer is preferably, a metal foil and the perforations are produced by punching or etching. This requires only simple tooling and enables three-layer housings to be mass-produced at low cost.
