The union gives a positive coupling between pipes in the lengthwise direction, being particularly for use between well filter and shaft pipes. It is formed by a profiled strip inserted between the pipe ends at the socket. At the socket, both pipe ends (2,4) have slots (3,5) in line, in which portions (8) bent inwards at right angles from the profiled strips (6) placed round the sockets engage. A tightening device can be provided for the strip, which can be of steel or plastic, and the slots can be spaced apart for the same intervals as the bent portions of the strips.
