<p>Sorption medium used for extn. of environmentally harmful gases from fumes, esp. from tunnel kilns, has its granular structure altered during transit through a separate circuit, including a grinder, before being returned to the incoming fume conduit before a cyclone mixer, normally in close conjunction with supplies of fresh medium. The appts. includes a blower which sucks sorbent material through an adjustable dip pipe from the body of material accumulated in a base container on falling from the set of upper filter bags when forced away by a compressed flushing air supply. This removed material is returned to the fume conduit, pref. via a grinder mill. The sorption medium is normally particles of lime (slaked or quick). Used for removing SO2, HF, nitrogen oxides and other gases harmful to animal and vegetable life, in the fumes from furnaces fired by coke, coal, oil, tar products in the brick and ceramic industries, glass, aluminium and fertiliser plants etc. Constant resurfacing of the lime etc. particles through grinding makes their utilisation more complete, hence more effective and cheaper.</p> |
