Domestic appliance door seal - with corners of softer elastomer bonded to harder straight sections

The sealing elements for the door of a domestic appliance, e.g. a baking oven, washing machine, dishwasher or refrigerator, are made of a vulcanisable elastomer laid into a groove with L-shaped edges at the door corners. The material for the straight sections of the seal have a Shore hardness of 60. The corners are made of a softer material with a Shore hardness of 50 which is injected into a vulcanising mould and joined to the straight sectons by vulcanisation. This creates a more reliable seal than straight sectons, abutting in a joint, or laid-in seals which tend to bunch up on the corners.
