Mowing appliances, especially those provided for installation as a mid-mounted mowing appliance, have hitherto required a relatively high suction power for discharging the mown material via a suction channel connecting the mowing implement to the blower. In order to reduce the blower power and therefore the generation of noise, the suction channel (12) of this mowing appliance is provided with an orifice (14) which leads into the open and is located opposite the connection piece (15) and the cross-section of which is approximately as large as that of the connection piece (15). It is thereby possible, with a relatively low blower power, to form in the suction channel (12) an air stream which runs obliquely relative to the throwing direction of the mowing implements (6) and which takes with it the material thrown off from the mowing implements (6). <IMAGE>
