The mechanism is intended for moving at least two object carriers in steps to successive stations arranged around a circular path. Each carrier is arranged at the end of an arm which is rotatable about a central shaft and carries two slide blocks movable lengthwise on the arm. Each slide block is provided with two guide rollers or the like of which one follows a stationary cam track in a fixed disc whilst the other engages cam grooves in a rotor disc driven by the shaft.
