Rake adjustment on rear seat of car - involves fixed ratchets on side of body and catches on seat back

The rear edges of the rear seat back are fitted with a rigid catch (18) which locates in ratchet guides on the car sides to lock the rake into different settings. This increases the luggage space while still allowing small children to occupy the rear seat. The ratchet may be fitted to either the seat back or the wall, as may the catch. The seat hinge is located in a slot (14) to allow sliding adjustment to hold the catch slide over the ratchet teeth. No moving parts are required for the ratchet and catch.
