<p>The solenoid valve has its closure piece also acting as armature in the magnetic circuit. The closure piece is roughly cylindrical with hemispherical caps at each ends. The advantage of this shape lies in its making the valve robust, tightly sealed and immune to contamination. The armature may have various other shapes all giving the same advantages - i.e. it may be barrel shaped or it may have transverse or longitudinal slots (the longitudinal slots may be helical).</p> |
