The arrangement applies adhesive (2h,3h etc) labels (2-6) from a stack onto an object (1). The labels have alternate left and right sides with magnetic poles (or electrostatic charge) with one polarity (N) on their upper and opposite polarity (S) on their lower surfaces and the entire stack is held on magnetised carrier (7). The arrangement is such that the lowermost label (2) is retained with lesser force than the remaining labels (3-6) so that only that label (2) detaches from the stack when it is pressed against the object (1) on which it is retained by the adhesive (2h). The upper surfaces of the labels pref. have an adhesive-repellent layer (2s,3s etc).
