PURPOSE:To prevent a multilayered magnetic layer from being charged without spoiling tape characteristics, by using magnetic paint, obtained by adding >=1 kind of surface active agent selected from a specific group to magnetic powder, a binder, etc., for the uppermost layer of the magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic paint, obtained by mixing >=1 kind selected among products containing an acidic group, such as a phosphate group, alkyl amine soap or the like for an anionic type, and alkylamine salts, quaternary ammonium salts, alkyl-pyridinium salts, and alkylimidazoline salts for a cationic type, polyoxyethylene alkylamino ether or the like for a nonionic type, and alkyl-betaine for an amophoteric type by <=5wt% of a magnetic layer together with magnetic powder, a binder, etc., as a surface active agent is used to form the uppermost magnetic layer of a multilayered magnetic recording medium. The uppermost magnetic layer is formed to <=3mum, and a lower layer to <=4mum, respectively. Thus, a magnetic tape, etc., which has superior charging prevention effect is obtained. |
